Good Read : The Natural Home

I've had the nice surprise to receive last weekend an email from super talented art director and stylist Hans Blomquist who mentioned the imminent release of his upcoming book, the Natural Home. No need to say that between the stylist's natural eye for beauty and Debi Treloar's immense photographic talent, they got me at the cover page.
Hans Blomquist was kind enough to share with us some pictures of The Natural Home, due for release on April 1, 2012 and available through most book retailers.

As Hans Blomquist puts it himself, "the book celebrates a home where style, through furniture and materials used, is very natural, celebrating vintage objects with patina that aged with time and use [...] The homes shown are furnished in a very spontaneous way... unplanned or un-staged, where the style and setting have evolved with time, where furniture and objects found their place, almost by accident. [...]".

The Natural home is an ode to the "perfect-imperfect" look many of us try to achieve in our home, a look that instantly gives character to a space and clearly contrasts from a "showroom" or catalog home. Can't wait to add this one to my personal home decor book collection... Monsieur Blomquist, merci!

Raw beauty

In love with these raw beauties. Simple, understated, so pure, you almost can feel and smell the wood and rusted metal. This is bliss.

Photo Walk :: Super Moon

Not sure if this technically qualifies for a "photo walk" since I just walked out to my street....

This weekend's "Super Moon" was quite a sight.  I don't know if it was more of a sight than usual, but it was beautiful in all its fullness and brightness.    I took a few shots of her, but found that my pictures looked a bit boring.   The above shot caught my attention - taken through the branches our barely budding Flowering Dogwood.

Enjoy!

Ice Age

Snowy days are few and far between, but this year we got a really good one.   The day after when the sun came out, the ice and the sun really put on a good show!

Hello, Horse

This picture was taken in the fall of 2009 on a farm in Mer Rouge. We were feeding the horses there for awhile and when dusk set in, we were blessed with a beautiful sunset. This horse came up to me as if wanting to have a little chat. Maybe he wanted to thank me for all the apples. Whatever his sentiment, he stopped long enough for me to capture him against the canvas of a Mer Rouge sunset.

Dusk on the Bayou

Hanging out on the pier, watching the sun go down...it's not the dock of the bay, but it was workin' for me.

Funny how the horses knew we were coming...did they know we had bags of apples?

Trees and Paths and Leaves, oh my.

Some nice paths, trees, lots of leaves (and a very odd branch). Fall in Sewanee, Tennessee is hard to beat!

Sun vs. Tree

This picture was taken in a field of trees just outside the city limits during the fall of 2008.

I have so many pictures of trees, but this is one of my personal favorites. To me, I feel the sun is fighting to get through those beautiful leaves – and the leaves have decided they are not going to budge.

By me? No...bayou
